Integrating Woodland Edges
Integrating a landscape edge with adjacent woods enhances the natural beauty already present. The area separates one managed for ornamental use and another that can be used for recreation. The wood edge can be an encroaching line of dense growth, both native and invasive. Because they are often not managed, these edges can take advantage if an environmental disturbance, gain a foothold, form a thicket and spread outward.
Hardscape Design
We believe that an integral part of the process is to meet with you to discuss your goals and interests. Pools, walkways, walls, steps and patios are critical features to any landscape that will enhance your enjoyment of the outdoors throughout the year. The useable space created should suit your specific tastes and interests. Let us create a conceptual design plan integrating our recommendations with your goals.
Shade Gardens
If you have a shaded corner of your property where you have had no previous success with a garden let us offer creative options and alternatives to provide a garden setting that flourishes in shade conditions using different native grasses, shrubs, groundcovers, perennials and ferns in attractive combinations that will offer interest throughout the seasons.
Plant Sourcing & Specimen Plants
Our design team can locate specimen trees and plants for the unique needs at your property. Our landscape construction department will then install the chosen plant in the desired location. Our team knows how to choose the healthiest and most beautiful plants available. We have contacts and sources throughout the Northeast to find just the right trees and plants from the basics to the more exotic.
Naturalized Meadows & Wildflowers
Meadows are a low maintenance alternative to the traditional lawn. They have aesthetic as well as natural habitat value. We can create an individualized seed mix of grasses and wild flowers that suit your specific property and personal tastes.
Orchards
Our landscape division is known for having designed and planted numerous orchards of apples and peaches. Our Tree Care and Plant Health Care Divisions then maintain these orchards at the highest level. We can obtain trees both large and small, and of many varieties of fruit. We work with you to choose the ideal location that can enhance the view on your property or create a destination for guests and your family. Think of the enjoyment of walking off your patio and picking fresh, juicy fruit right from your own trees!
Wetlands
A Constructed Wetland is a man-made wetland created where none has existed before, and which purifies water runoff using natural processes. It purifies the way nature does - without electricity or chemicals. Each one is purpose-designed for its site. A completed wetland is an attractive working eco-system complete with plants and trees, birds, fish and amphibian life. Look to our Water Garden Division for customized wetland designs.
Native Gardens
These gardens often work best in landscapes located near wooded areas where the line between your landscape and the native surroundings can be blended. Native plants are indigenous to our area and therefore grow best in our landscapes. Many beautiful specimen plants can be chosen from a native palette offering a greater opportunity for their long-term survival and less maintenance over time.
Seaside Gardens
If your home is located near the sea or waterside your landscape must be tailored to respond to the delicate conditions of salt and wind exposure. With the correct planting palette your landscape will survive and flourish for years to come. The areas bordering the area further become a focal point on your property.
Low Maintenance Plantings
Low maintenance planting schemes utilize native, and other hardy plants in attractive combinations to offer the full benefits and opportunities for growing successful gardens that use less water, are more disease resistant and require less maintenance over time. Native and hardy plants are acclimated to this region so they require less care to keep them healthy, happy and looking great in your landscape.
Insect and Disease Resistant Plants
We work with our Plant Health Care Division to stay current on diseases and insects that damage landscape plantings. With the correct planting palette you can limit your landscape’s vulnerability to these pests. Any direct concerns are answered quickly by our Plant Health Care Division.
Deer Resistant Plants
By choosing the correct plants for your property with a focus on deer-deterrence you can greatly minimize the impact of damage to your landscape. This will insure that your landscape stays beautiful and each plant is allowed to grow and maintain its natural shape.
